DVD'S and Other Training
OK You've decided to give 3D graphics a try. You've bought or got a learning edition and got it installed, had a play around with it and now you want to know more. You have two options, Either go to some college or academy that offers training, or learn at home. There are plenty of places that offer training for various programs. However cost and the location of these places may not be suitable. Though if you can afford it and can get there, go for it.
For those that can't get too or afford this training all is not lost. There are a few very good places to get trained up, by buying training DVD's or CD's.I've bought a few training DVD's from different companies, and been very pleased with them. I've bought DVD's on Z Brush, Softimage XSI, Body Paint and Lightwave. I also bought one on Flash ActionScript as well.
The companies I've used are:
The prices for the DVD's are around $50 - $70, but they are worth it. Kurv Studios and Digital Tutors also offer free videos to download so you can get a good idea of what they offer.
Another site that deserves a special mention is 3D Buzz. On this site you can download training videos for a number of programs. They also ran an online course on Maya Fundamentals, which was according to everyone who did it, absolutely brilliant. They will be starting another Maya course soon, although this may be a little bit more advanced. You can buy the Maya Fundamentals training DVD's from the 3D Buzz store. This costs $249.99 but for that you get over 80 hours of training. 3D Buzz is a community site with active forums, I'd recommend this site as worth joining ( it's free to join ). Two other good sites are 3D Palace and Simply 3D World. These two sites also offer video tutorials, some free, some you have to pay for but not an unreasonable amount.
