3D Animation Software

This site is intended for anyone who is interested in using 3D animation software. This type of software used to be bought by film, TV and advertising companies, or by people with big bank accounts. The good news is that the price of this software has dropped tremendously, although some versions are still on the expensive side. Even better is the fact that there is a lot of free 3d animation software for you to try out. There are free versions of Maya, Lightwave, 3D Max, Softimage XSI, Houdini, Zbrush and others. This free software is available for download on the companies websites. Try the website image links at the top of this page.

I will be giving my opinions on various 3D software packages that I've used, so if I don't mention a particular program much it's not because I don't rate it, it's merely because I haven't used it. This is purely a hobby of mine I'm not a professional, just an enthusiastic amateur, very amateur I should add.

Also on the site I plan to put any interesting news items, update news, freebies, anything that I think will be interesting and useful. There will also be the obligatory gallery with some of my work, both finished and work in progress.

If you are reading this site hoping to find the answer to the question "What is the best 3D software to use" then you're out of luck, as that is an impossible question to answer. Whats good for one user isn't necessarily good for another. The only advice I can give to help you decide is to try a demo or a Personal Learning Edition for any software you are interested in.

3D animation software can be overwhelming at first. But if you're prepared to put the time and effort into it, it can be very rewarding and enjoyable. So if you would like to give 3D animation a try, get one or all of the free versions and try them out, and have fun.
